Which is better: Vitamin D or Calcium?

I'm a grown 20-year old. I know women need more calcium and Vitamin D, especially as they grow older. I also read somewhere that as women get older, approach menopause I think, they should take less Calcium and more Vitamin D.

What should I be taking now? More of Vit. D or more Calcium? And is taking a multivitamin and a calcium vitamin ok?

Both! You need vitamin D and Calcium for strong bones. Vitamin D helps your body absorb the calcium better, so they work together as a team. In fact, the FDA has just upped the Daily Reccommended Allowance for vitamin D.

Your body will always need calcium, no matter what age. But the demand for calcium becomes less as you age because your bones are no longer repairing themselves, but that doesn't mean you should stop taking calcium!

To answer your last question, yes, it is ok to take a multivitamin as well as a calcium supplement. Calcium is a water soluable vitamin, so you can never really overdose. Your body will just filter out whatever you dont use
